Maximum-care hospital and academic medical center in Dresden, working with TU Dresden on clinical care, research and teaching, including digital health, medical AI and precision diagnostics.

universi36 is a maximum-care hospital and academic medical center in Dresden, providing the full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient medicine, with particular expertise in complex, severe and rare diseases. Founded in 1999 as a public-law institution of the Free State of Saxony, it works closely with TU Dresden's Faculty of Medicine across patient care, research and teaching.

Technical work spans digital health, medical AI, trustworthy healthcare data systems, precision diagnostics, proton therapy, intensive care medicine and interdisciplinary outpatient care. A broad research and innovation programme, run in partnership with TU Dresden, underpins continued investment in these areas. Care is delivered through 25 clinics and polyclinics, seven institutes and 19 interdisciplinary centres covering cancer, rare diseases, paediatrics, neurological disorders and other complex conditions, supported by 1,410 beds, 201 day-clinic treatment places and 17 modern operating theatres. The emergency department treats approximately 50,000 patients a year.

The institution employs around 3,000 staff, including some 1,000 physicians and 2,000 nursing professionals. It serves Dresden, eastern Saxony and the wider region, and treats international patients from beyond it.
