CorWave is a clinical-stage medical device company based in Clichy, near Paris, France. Founded in 2012 by the startup studio MD Start, it develops cardiac assist devices for the treatment of heart failure. Its Left Ventricular Assist System (LVAS) is built on proprietary wave membrane technology, which is designed to produce physiological, pulsatile blood flow and is differentiated from the left ventricular assist devices currently on the market. The underlying wave membrane technology results from more than 20 years of research and is protected by more than 50 patents. CorWave's engineering and manufacturing work spans blood pump engineering, mechanical circulatory support and pulsatile blood flow technology, and the company operates state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. It has raised more than 80 million euros from investors, including international backers.
CorWave employs over 130 people of 15 different nationalities and is a member of the French Tech 120 index. The company describes its mission as helping healthcare professionals save heart failure patients and offer them an active life.
